Field Trip to Discovery Gateway

Discovery Gateway (or the new Childrens' Museum) is the coolest place ever. My grandchildren can play for 5 hours at a time there and their ages range from 2-16. If you haven't ever been before, see if you can plan a nice summer field trip. You will be amazed at the creative stuff that each age group can do.

FRACTION MATH MENU

We have explored fractions in many different ways: fraction circles, candy fractions, 2 fraction games, a fraction graph, and fraction questions. They are learning how to label the fractions.
It's kind of tricky. Last month we ate fractions: hershey bars, licorice and fish crackers.

Jog-a-thon

It was a perfect weather day to walk to Falcon Park. We took the zig zag shortcut.
When we got to the park, the DJ had us jump, dance and exercise as the higher grades jogged.

Then it was our turn. We were to jog or walk for 20 minutes.

We enjoyed the beautiful scenery. I didn't hear any kids complain.

I was one of the few teachers that jogged with the kids. I jogged for 20 min.(2 miles). That's pretty good for an old lady of 60 years.

Some of my kids won the drawings for prizes. A. got an ipod from Mountain America C U!

We got a water bottle at the park, and a Texas Roadhouse roll when we got back to school.
We got to give a hug to the Texas Roadhouse Armadillo on the way out. We want to thank the School and Community Committe who planned this great activity for our school.

Plant Unit

During centers, the students wrote Beanstalk Stories and read them to the class.

Our grass head guys need a haircut! We had a tasting party. We ate vegetables that were leaves, stems, flowers, seeds, roots and fruit. Lots of kids tried jicama and radishes!

We started some seeds in a glove. We will be watching and recording in our plant journal their growth. We will do some seed and plant experiments. We started our grass head guys a week ago. We hope they will have a full head of hair by our May 7th program. We are going to give them to our dads for Father's Day.
